When Gulf seafood industry leaders formed the Gulf Seafood Institute (GSI) they realized the need for a loud and respected voice for an infant organization. With a mission to unite the seafood communities of all five Gulf States, is is committed to protect the Gulf’s unique culture while elevating the Gulf Seafood brand with consumers, customers and policy leaders through advocacy, education and science.
Gulf Seafood News gave the organization a trusted voice with insight into stories of the Gulf’s seafood family. It was instrumental in securing a $2.25 million grant from the National Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation for electronic data collection for the year old organization.
It proved an effective tool in establishing close relationships with members of Congress and governmental organizations such as NOAA, as well as trusted relationships with media on Capital Hill and across the Gulf.
